Japan and the United States are sending spacecraft with asteroid sample returns.
That asteroid
Japan is "Itokawa" diameter 330m
USA is "Bennu" 560m in diameter
They suspect that both of these asteroids are fragments scattered by the collision of one asteroid.
The clash was 800 million years ago.
The fragments also fall to the earth and the moon.
Twenty-five percent of the lunar craters are caused by falling these fragments.
It seems that "Itokawa" and "Bennu" are being investigated because they may collide with the earth.
